My Morning Jacket – Circuital

April 13, 2011

Here’s a new song from Louisville rockers My Morning Jacket. It’s the title track from their upcoming 6th studio album, Circuital, due to be released at the end of May.

My Morning Jacket – Circuital

Circuital begins with a slow build up but progressively becomes an epic 7 minute jam with a very pleasant guitar riff. Jim James hasn’t lost his vocal touch, and it seems the band have relaxed a little bit since 2008’s Evil Urges and returned to their gentler, cheerier roots.

Those with their finger on the pulse will already know that MMJ have just completed a five day residency at New York’s Terminal 5 where they played a bunch of covers (including, but not limited to, Wham’s ‘Careless Whisper’, Prince’s ‘I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man’ and Elton John’s ‘Rocket Man’) as well as showing off some new tracks. The new album is set to drop on 31.05.11.

What a catchy tune Rob! I’m rarely impressed after the first listen to a song, but this one is an act of class! Gonna listen to it again

Hey Paula, I agree.. it’s a great song! As much as I liked Evil Urges, it was a bit brash, and I’ll be very happy if the new album follows the precedent set by this new song. Can’t wait!
