Michael Jackson – Bad (Kill Them With Colour Remix)
Since things have been a wee bit quiet on the post front of late and also since I have been fortunate enough to discover a delightful little remix number (special thanks to The Music Ninja) it feels appropriate that I stick the tune up on here for the rest of you to enjoy:
I recently got to play this remix at a party and the initial temptation was to leave the post title with as little information to the mix itself as possible, just to keep you all guessing a little. Much like the MSTKRFT remix I recommended a few weeks back, this mix does an exceptional job of reducing the original song to its core and rebuilding it from scratch to create something quite, quite different.
Had I not known myself where the mix had come from I may have struggled a little while to work out what the original song was – getting Michael Jackson would have been OK, the song not so much. Certainly those around me couldn’t figure it out although as I said, this was at a party and the people around me weren’t exactly at their best in terms of intellectual prowess at this stage of the evening.
Anyway, the song is a master-class in the art of turning one type of song into something totally different without following the the lazy and incredibly frustrating route that a lot of techno and house DJ’s often do (I was planning on throwing a few choice links around at this stage of particularly gruesome examples but for the life of me I can’t – or I care not – to remember any).
Enjoy the song and spread it around to your friends and family as an early Christmas present…if they are into this sort of thing.
I’m usually very reluctant to remix, but I have to admit that this one is a pure pleasure to listen to. Good discovery!
It’s Julie 🙂
